Entertaining Generations for 50 Years

ALL ABOARD! The Santa Barbara Zoo Train offers a 15-minute narrated tour weaving through tunnels and past favorite animal exhibits on a 1½-mile round trip. One of the Zoo’s most popular attractions, the Zoo Train has transported more than 35 million visitors since 1968. The railroad operates year-round, weather permitting.

The Zoo Train is ADA accessible. 

Train Rides

Take a ride “around the world” in ten to twelve minutes! The Zoo train is a family favorite, filled with fun facts about our animals, conservation efforts, historic information, and a behind-the-scenes look at some of our exhibits.

Open daily from 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Engineer for a Day

Let your Jr. Engineer rule the railroad! Experience includes a ride on the Zoo Train with your child in the engineer’s seat, a behind-the-scenes tour of the train barn, souvenir photo, coveralls, and a Jr. Engineer certificate.
