Are you looking for an unforgettable seasonal job or volunteer experience? Check out the annual Santa Barbara Zoo Job and Volunteer Expo, where you’ll learn all about the Zoo’s employment and volunteer opportunities!
Employment opportunities include the award-winning Guest Experience Specialist (GES) program, as well as other positions such as: Educator (seasonal and regular), Home School Instructor, Event Coordinator, Special Event Host, Animal Experience Attendant, Climbing Wall Monitor, Train Engineer, and show performer for the Zoo’s stage Dino and California Tales shows.
Volunteer opportunities include Docents, Keeper Aides, Counselor in Training, Jr. Docents, and Jr. Ambassador programs.
Note: Intended to be a “first job” for youth, GES positions are available to those as young as 14 who may rotate between jobs in three areas: guest services, restaurants, and retail stores. In addition to their job duties, participants are introduced to work ethics and basic skills, such as how to provide excellent customer service, and learn about the world of zoos, animal care, conservation, and much more.
No reservations or appointments are necessary. Parking is free for participants, and check-in is at the front gate. Parents/guardians of teens are welcome.
