Description:
They have a prominent red patch on the white breast and are grayish over the rest of the body and head. The brightly-colored red feathers on the breast resemble a wound, hence their name. During the breeding display, the male pursues the female with short rapid steps, then stops suddenly, lowers his tail and puffs out his breast to show off his red patch. He then resumes a normal posture and begins to coo.
