Name:  Puerto Rican crested Toad

Range:
Puerto Rican Islands and British Virgin Islands.

Habitat:
Inhabits semi-arid, rocky areas of the island.

Description:
Textured, pebbled skin, and striking marbled golden eyes. The average adult male is olive green and gold, approx. 3" long. The avg. female is dull brown, 4" long, rougher skin and has a high crest above her eyes.

Adaptations/Habitat:
Nocturnal. It uses temporary spring rain pools for breeding. The northern population has been observed breeding in walk-in concrete cattle troughs!

Insects, worms, insect larvae, and other invertebrates.
