The Zoo offers programs for children aged 18 months through 14 years. During the summer months, we offer Zoo Camp for ages 3 through entering 12th grade.

Toddler Trek

Description Early childhood is an important time to instill a sense of wonder about nature. You and your child will enjoy a different exploration twice a month through sensory activities and fun group interactions all geared towards enhancing your Zoo experience.

Tiny Tots
Ages Ages 3 - 5 with or without adult (see dates)
Please do not bring additional children
Prices Each class: Members $20, Non-members $25
Description Tiny Tot classes teach general concepts that are appropriate for young minds. A combination of songs, games, animal observation, and up-close animal encounters (when available) will help your youngster gain a new perspective on the Zoo's animals. Please note that there is one adult/child class and one child only class per month.

It’s Not Easy Being Green
Friday, April 11, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. (with adult)
Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (without adult)
Hop on over to the Zoo for hippity-hop froggy fun. See if you can jump as far as the frog world record holder, meet a special friend of the Zoo’s, and make your own amphibian to take home.

Feet, Feet, Feet
Friday, May 9, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. (with adult)

Oh, how many feet you will meet! From those that dig holes to those that paddle water, feet are the focus of this workshop. Join us as we celebrate the variety of fabulous feet that can be found at the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Zooperkids
Ages Ages 6 - 8
Prices Each class: Members $23, Non-members $28
Description Zooperkids are super explorers, ready to expand their boundaries and learn about exotic animals. These classes allow in-depth exploration through animal encounters (when available), discussions, crafts, and educational games.

Slithering Snakes and Tremendous Turtles
Saturday, April 19, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
You’ll have a spectacular time as we tackle the wild world of reptiles. Spend the afternoon with us as we get close up to a snake, tiptoe by the turtles, and make some of our own scaly creatures.

Diggin Dirty
Saturday, May 17, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Some animals never grow out of playing in the dirt. Don’t miss the chance to dig deep into the world of mud and to learn why some animals depend on the mud to stay healthy, to build their homes, and to take a short nap.

Wild Callings
Ages Ages 9 - 14
Prices Each class: Members $28, Non-members $34
Description Wild Callings classes are designed to present career options to those Zoo enthusiasts aged 9 to14. They can include hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes (when available), keeper interactions, and in-depth animal information.

Marine Biologist
Saturday, April 26, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Dive deep into a sea of fun at the Zoo. Through a variety of activities such as dissection and observation, we’ll explore the ocean realm and see what it takes to become a marine biologist.

Jr. Zookeeper
Saturday, May 24, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
It’s time to grab some brooms, brushes, rakes, and shovels! You’ll have a blast while learning how a zookeeper cares for animals at the Zoo. Discover why zookeeping is such a fun and important job.
