The Best Birthday Parties Happen at the Zoo!
The Zoo offers birthday party packages for children aged 2-12. With six party sites, a unique setting, and a great party package, it's the best choice for your birthday party needs.
Our package includes the following for all birthday parties:

Goodie bags. Add Goodie bags to your birthday party to make it a WILD success! Bags may be ordered online or by calling the Zoo's Gift Shop: (805) 962-5339, ext. 20.

PRICES - minimum 10 people to book a birthday party
Members $14 per person*;Non-Members $18 per person*
*Each adult and/or child guest, including the hosts, must have a pre-paid birthday ticket regardless of Zoo membership.
BOOKING A PARTY
To book a birthday party, please fill out the reservation form and return it to the Zoo at least two weeks prior to your party date with a $50 deposit. A confirmation letter will be sent to you along with a catering menu and invitations to send to your guests. A final guest count, payment in full and any applicable catering order is due one week prior to the party. Admission tickets can be mailed to you or you can pick them up at the Zoo. All other party supplies will be in your party package and available for pick-up at the front gate on the day of your party. All fees are non-refundable; however, in case of rain you have up to one year to reschedule.
You may reserve a site for the entire day (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) for an additional $50.
You may reserve a site only, without the party package, for $50 per three hours. No admission discounts or birthday options are available.
PARTY SITES
Cabrillo Lawn - Large grassy area located next to the Cats of Africa exhibit. Plenty of space with beautiful ocean views.
Elephant Deck - Wooden deck overlooking the elephant exhibit. Your group will have private use of half of the large wooden deck.
Hexagonal Tables - Next to rolling hill on Olive Road.
Palm Garden - Near the Hilltop, next to the Amphitheater.
Storytime Treehouse - A special "treehouse" deck located above the new Kallman Family Play Area. Perfect for small parties.
Each area will be supplied with enough picnic tables to accommodate your group. The maximum capacity at all sites is is 30-40 people, with the exception of the Storytime Treehouse which can accomodate 16.

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER
As a special treat for your guests, an education animal will come to visit your party. One of our Zoo staff members will bring an animal to your area for approximately 10-15 minutes. We have a variety of animals available including a skink, snake, rabbit, frog, tarantula, turtle, tortoise, chuckwalla, cockroach, and millipede. You may request a specific animal, but due to weather restrictions, we cannot always honor the request. If we cannot provide the animal you asked for, another age-appropriate animal will be brought out.
Note: As with the birthday party reservations, we need two weeks advance notice to book an education animal. If for some reason, we cannot provide an animal for your party, you will be refunded $18.
PARTY TABLEWARE
The animal-themed tableware includes plates, cups, napkins, and tablecloths. One place setting per guest will be included in your party bag. Matching invitations will also be provided upon receipt of reservation form. Please note, styles and patterns will vary depending on availability.
