American Alligator

Alligator mississippiensis

Average Lifespan: Up to 55 years.

Diet: In the wild, alligators eat fish, turtles, and small mammals. 


Geography: Southeastern United States.

Babies: Females lay 20-50 eggs in a single nest, and after about 2 months, the eggs hatch and she will carry the babies to the water in her mouth. 


Conservation Status: Not Endangered.


Interesting Fact: These alligators can have anywhere from 74 to 80 teeth!
