Diet: In the wild, they eat a wide variety of grasses, roots, bark, and leaves. They also enjoy fruit and
sugarcane.
Geography: Southern Asia, mainly in the countries of India, Sumatra, and Sri Lanka. Babies: Elephants are pregnant for about 2 years and have 1 calf per pregnancy. Pregnancies usually occur every 4 years. At birth, the calves weigh about 250 pounds.
Conservation Status: Endangered.
Interesting Fact: Elephants have more muscles in their trunks than people have in their entire bodies!
